Michael's Flight - Descendants of Earth Book 2

When I wrote Jason's Accord I meant it to be a stand alone book. It wasn't until my editor, Bea, talked to me about one of the characters, Michael, that I saw future books and a series. This is Michael's story and my edits arrived today.....yikes!

Fortunately my editor at eXtasy is one of the best people I know and an outstanding editor.

Her Eyes

I was thinking about my post for this week and realized in all my excitment about new contracts and other goings on in my life I hadn't said much, if anything about the books I have out. Her Eyes is the book that led me to His Eyes which will be out with Bookstrand later this year. It also has a special place on my writer's shelf. When Jennifer Cloud and I heard about the first face transplant surgery, the woman in France, we talked about it, both of us seeing it from not just an author's perspective but in each others. She writes horror/thriller and I write mostly sweet romance although I've been known to go a bit spicey. I told her it sounded like the start of one of her fantastic horror stories where the person who donated the face had issues and wrecked havoc on the new person's body. Her response was it sounded more like one of my sweet romances where you get the chance to come back and do it right. Her Eyes evolved from there.

Catherine White tries to murder her husband and his dog save his life by attacking her. She ends up with a face transplant and before long Frank begins to see changes in his wife. Catherine is kinder, gentler, most affectionate in bed. A neighbor suggests that perhaps there is a walk in and Frank begins an oddessy of finding out just who is wife is. Before he can though, Catherine makes another attempt on Frank's life.

That brings Detective Mike Malone on the scene and Mike has his own story in His Eyes.
In Her Eyes, based on the adage that the eyes are the window to the soul, we ask the question, when you look into her eyes, what do you see?

The Glass Cage, Book 2 of the McKenna Crime Series

A few days ago, right after I signed my contract for The Spell with Siren, I finished book 2 of this series, The Glass Cage and right now it is with a Beta reader. I got to admit, when I wrote the scene with the occupied stolen vehicle I found myself holding my breath, just like I used to on a code 3 run!

The Spell has a home!

Sitting at my desk Monday morning, immersed in editing a brief, my phone rang...my cell phone that is. Coming out of my immersion in the brief I wasn't quite sure I heard it right the first time -- Siren-Bookstrand wanted to contract both The Spell and His Eyes! I bounced in my chair doing my own odd-ball happy dance! It totally made my month!

The Spell will be released in October with Siren and His Eyes in November with Bookstrand. It's going to be a fun summer!

Finding America's Hero -- posted by Ryan Michaels

While we're waiting for our story to be picked up and worked on, we characters from the Spell got together and decided to help out another of our author's characters, Austin Quinn, by telling the world about his contest. It started today and the winner will be announced on November 10 -- the Marine Corps birthday. That's a special day for me too because before becoming an ATF agent I was a Marine. So here's the scoop:

FINDING AMERICA'S HERO CONTEST
In America's Hero Austin Quinn plays America's Hero,
Major Cass Winters IS America's Hero
Now is your chance to nominate America's Hero and Help me find Austin Quinn

America's Hero is my newest time travel and due out with Champagne Books (www.champagnebooks.com) in March 2009. Austin Quinn is a Hollywood hottie and he has played not only some of the greatest heroes America has seen, he's also played such icons as Achilles and Robin Hood in his movies.
Major Cass Winter is a Marine Corps F/A-18 pilot who just wants nothing to do with the Hollywood hunk. Through a freak incident, both are thrown back in time to before the walls of Troy.

FINDING AMERICA'S HERO CONTEST is a two part
contest with hopefully something for everyone.

Part One is your chance to help me find Austin Quinn. His picture will be on, among things, my website, myspace and blog as well as being able to say "I'm the human reality of Austin Quinn from Regan Taylor's book America's Hero".

The winner will have his photograph featured on Austin Quinn's page on my website and on his own blog, a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate, $25 Starbucks gift card, a download of a Champagne book of choice, a jigsaw puzzle of an air craft carrier and an autographed copy of America's Hero when it is released in print.

Details to nominate Austin Quinn with appropriate links are on my website at www.ReganTaylor.com.

Part Two is finding who your American Hero is--is he the young man who shovels snow for the elderly lady next door? The woman who volunteers for the literacy project? A firefighter rushing code 3 to a fire?

From July 4, 2008 through August 31, 2008 you will have your chance to nominate this hero by going to Austin's Blog at http://austinquinn-americashero.blogspot.com and entering a comment on who your hero is. The winner will receive a $25 Starbucks gift card, $25 Amazon.com gift certificate and the download of their choice from Champagne Books.
Both contests will have nominations open until September 1 (Labor Day) the voting will begin for who epitomizes who a true hero is based on the stories told about this amazing individuals. Voting will run until November 10, 2009 (The Marine Corps Birthday and the day before Veterans' Day). (You will need to leave your email so we can contact the winner.)

Very Special Agents by James Moore, ATF Retired

I'm really big on being factually accurate, even in fiction. When I started writing Ryan from The Spell back in 2003 -- yes, it's been through a ton of re-working as I honed Kelly, the heroine -- I tried to find an ATF agent to make sure he was factually accurate. Not a one. They are truly the epitome of the strong silent type.

As an agency they have been bounced around from umbrella agency to umbrella agency and all the while maintained their professionalism. I knew this from things I'd seen, but finding someone to ask about it wasn't happening. Then I came across Mr. Moore's book and what an eye opener. And....he confirmed in the opening chapter that they are indeed the guys who hang in the background do their job and go home.

So, now, with that in mind -- what kind of powerful spell would make even a stalwart guy like Ryan take the left hand lane?

Do you believe in Reincarnation?

Do you think you lived before?

When you meet someone have you ever had an instant like or dislike to? Someone who you instantly felt comfortable with or someone you felt an unexplainable urge to run from?

What about love at first sight. Did you ever think that maybe the feeling of falling in love at first sight is because you knew and loved this person in another life time?

When you read a romance (primarily) did you ever think that you had a favorite time period because on some level you remember being alive then?

My belief in reincarnation and unfinished business was one of the main underlying factors in writing The Spell. What if reincarnation exists and rather than just going along, living your life, you did something to take control and stop the natural progression of things. How long would it take to set things right? Would you know? Or would you keep repeating the same cycle over and over again until it was almost too late?

Rewrites for the New Year

During a rough few months at the day job I won a critique from a fabulous agent and she really inspired me so The Spell, as the first book is now called, has undergone some seroius reworking. I feel a lot stronger about it and think it's going to be a tighter read. It's with an editor and BETA reader right now so I'm excited to see where it goes from here.

Update on The Pentacle and news on the Crystal Ball

Regan's been trying to find us an agent and/or publisher. She really is hoping to have us in a solid place and soon. With 10,000 extra words and Ryan having a case to work on things are looking good. She's about ready to begin her own hard edits on the Crystal Ball so stay tuned for some excerpts!

NEWS ON OUR FRONT!

Hey, check out what Rita Finalist and Holt Medallion Winner Jasmine Haynes had to say about our first book:
Rita Finalist and Holt Medallion winner Jasmine Haynes, aka Jennifer Skully (J.B. Skully) has this to say about Spell Across Time: The Pentacle:

I would like to take this opportunity to say I enjoyed the book very much. I am a fan of paranormal romance and I love the reincarnation theme. In fact, I would love to see more romances on the subject versus the usual shapeshifters and vampires. I felt Regan covered the reincarnation theory very logically, allowing the reader to suspend disbelief (if one doesn’t believe in reincarnation). The love story between the hero and heroine drew me in, and it’s progression was completely believable. In the beginning, the heroine is involved in another relationship, and I felt Regan handled the evolution of the change in the heroine’s emotions about her current lover versus her “soulmate” with sensitivity. She created well-rounded characters.

We heard Regan is working on her edits for one of her other series -- the Bride Series, but our time is coming soon! I can't wait to see what she does with the Crystal Ball.

Now hang on a minute there Blanche -- Ryan Michaels here

I've heard some interesting scuttlebutt over in my office. While ATF isn't in the spying business per se, I do keep an eye on our author and I heard something interesting is in the works. Since the investigation is open I can't say much about it, but I think we'll all be some happy characters if what I'm hearing is right.

Ryan Michaels

RATS! DOUBLE RATS! SHE'S ON TO US!

Blanche Delinsky here -- that awful author Regan Taylor has plans to finish the first round of our story! I've been studying my crystal ball, every night I go home and pull it out and I didn't see this coming! Ahhhhhh! (panicked scream).

You see, I've liked living in a kind of limbo. She knows where the story is going. I know where it's going....I just don't want it to go there. I need to get with Clarissa and discuss this. Unfortunately Clariss is off yet again on one of her many conferences. Not that she goes to them, she just uses them as excuses to....well never mind.

Damica might have an idea....

Well, you never know, Regan might put another spin on it yet again!

What? It's May? You say it's May? Almost June

Well I really tied one on this time. I'm Clarissa Seagul - that's Seagul with one "l", not like the bird. I like to find desperate, down and out....I mean women who have been out of the work force for awhile and give them a leg up. Once they realize they owe me, I mean when they are grateful for all my help, they naturally want to help me reach my goals.

I am one of the principles in an insurance company in Miwok, California, having moved here in the past year. I love my adult beverages, online gambling and watching people interact. I'm enjoying my starring role in Spell Across Time: Book 2 the Crystal Ball. Find out what Kelly thinks of me -- coming soon.

Do you believe in Witchcraft and casting Spells?

I didn't used to...I still don't. But I, Carolina Summers, was accused of witchcraft back in old Salem.

I'm not a witch, truly I am not. My mistake was loving the wrong man.

How does one know who really is the right man?

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Afternoon Greetings from Richard

I'm a man from Kelly's past...far past. In fact, I knew her in another life time. I knew from the moment I met her I'd spent a lifetime looking for her. It was odd, so odd, I knwe there was someone special, someone I couldn't live without and when I met her...only it wasn't Kelly, she was known by another name in that life...but I knew it was she I had searched for.

When that life time ended I knew I would seach through time and space to find her again...and indeed I have.
